Sameji Safaris offers different kinds of climbing, trekking and hiking tours on the beautiful hills, mountains and Tanzanian savannah. These trips can be organized from one to multiple days and on request also include camping.
Climbing the Mount Kilimanjaro is not just like climbing any mountain. The Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano and the highest mountain in Africa, rising nearly 6 kilometres above sea level. It’s part of the Kilimanjaro NP and a major climbing destination. There are various routes Sameji Safaris can take you on. These routes vary from less to more challenging, but overall we do advise you to undertake thorough research before starting this adventure.
Treks will take six to seven days and are only suitable for experienced hikers. Hikers will be accompanied by a trained professional guide and porters.
Mount Meru, like Mount Kilimanjaro, is a dormant volcano. At a height of 4,5 kilometres it’s the fifth highest mountain in Africa. Mount Meru is part of the Arusha NP and a trip up (and down) this impressive mountain will take approximately 4-5 days. Not only will you be able to enjoy great views from the mountain, you will also get the chance to see wildlife, including: giraffes, baboons, elephants, antelopes, and loads of bird species.
Only suitable for experienced hikers. Hikers will be accompanied by an armed park ranger, trained professional guide and porters.
Translated the name of this mountain originates from the Maasai language and means “Mountain of God”. As it is an active volcano, the people believe that whenever it erupts God is speaking to them. Hiking this mountain will take approximately seven hours. We usually start at night, so you reach the top to see the breath taking sunrise from its peak. We will reach the bottom again before it gets too hot. Experienced guides will accompany you on this tour. They are from the Maasai tribe and have climbed the mountain for many years, knowing which routes are safe. Although one can hike Mt. Lengai in one day, the tracks are of high strenuous and only suitable for well trained hikers.
Hiking and cycling trips can be organized on various locations and different routes. For example, we can take you along Rift valley and local trails such as Longido and Monduli. Trails can be hiked and cycled, or even combined as a savannah trekking which includes camping. At Sameji Safaris we’re convinced you’ll never feel more connected to our stunning Tanzanian nature, than by putting up your tent in the middle of it.
Let us know what you’re looking for in a hiking or cycling tour, what your experience is and how tough (or relaxed) you want it to be and we’ll set up a route just for you.
Sameji can also arrange for you to visit some impressive waterfalls or hotsprings. One of the options is visiting the waterfalls of Mount Meru, which will take us approximately 4 hours. Or bathing in the hotsprings near to Bomang’ombe, believed to support the healing of skin diseases and rid you from bad luck.
As we can arrange different tours, visiting most of these unique hotspots is also possible by car if you are not able to hike or climb.
